The ‘Planetary Protection Officer’ is a job position recently posted by NASA and it pays six figures!
Do you have what it takes to work for NASA?
No, this isn’t a job with the Men in Black.
Sorry! Different agency, right?
But, NASA is currently looking for qualified individuals to fill the position of ‘Planetary Protection Officer’ (PPO).
Now that’s a pretty cool title.
According to just some of its duties, the PPO will be the ‘focal point for interactions with external organizations on matters related to planetary protection” and “leads planning and coordination of activities related to NASA mission planetary protection needs.”
So in a nutshell, you’re the guy to talk to when it comes to a potential alien invasions…lovely!
And, if you think anyone can qualify for the position, you’re greatly mistaken.
Candidates must have some serious engineering and science experience, advanced understanding of planetary protection and has demonstrated both the ability of diplomacy and has demonstrated experience planning, executing, or overseeing elements of space programs of national significance (amongst other qualifications).
However, if you are the lucky SOB to land the position’s one and only full-time vacancy, money shouldn’t be an issue as the salary is between $124,406 and $187,000.
That’s a nice annual chunk of change.
“This position is assigned to Office of Safety and Mission Assurance for Planetary Protection,” according to the job’s summary.
“NASA maintains policies for planetary protection applicable to all space flight missions that may intentionally or unintentionally carry Earth organisms and organic constituents to the planets or other solar system bodies, and any mission employing spacecraft, which are intended to return to Earth and its biosphere with samples from extraterrestrial targets of exploration.”
And, the PPO’s security clearance is completely secret.
Maybe you’ll get enough clearance to meet with a Grey or a Nordic or a Reptilian or…who knows?
The Planetary Protection Officer position will remain open from July 13, 2017 till August 14, 2017.
You better get on it.
Maybe now’s a good time to update the ole cover letter and resume!
